STORY OF D-DAY

Im going to start a story about D-Day on Omaha and when im done with the post someone can continue it for about a paragragh. I will post the begining and last paragraphs.

Here is the backround.
Main Character-Capt.Williams he commands a company
Setting-Omaha Beach,France
Here it goes:

It was a cold and rainy morning on June 6. My company was loaded into the assault boat. The men were extrememly nervous. They were throwing up everywhere. As we made our way toward the beach. The artillery shells kept getting closer. One boat was hit directly and thrown into the water. then i heard "30 Seconds!". We were about to land. "20 Seconds" We could here the screams of the men already on the beach."10 Seconds!" The medic got his tools ready. Then I heard "Prepare for-" The sailor was shot in the head. Then the doors fell down...

Art Attack 08-14-2002 01:31 PM

As the first waves of troops took theirs first steps out of the boat they fell and floated in the water while other slowly moved up the beach. Me and two other members of my squad were hiding behind a hedgehog. When I looked to my left I saw bodies and the medic doing all he could to calm them before they took their last breaths, I looked to my right and saw men from many different squads moving up the beach and dropping like flies. I saw one boy who was sitting behind one hedgehog curled up in a ball crying for his mother, there was nothing I could do, so i stood up and fired my Thompson and moved up the beach to where all the others were waiting for the bangalores.

Art Attack 08-14-2002 03:51 PM

As I waited for the bangalores and looked apon the beach and the dead bodies and the cries of the wound laying in the dirt hoping for a maricle, then out of the corner or my eye I saw the boy with the bangalores get a bullet right through his head. I looked down and mumbled "shit". Everyone was too scared to go and get them so I said I would. I crouched and said a quick pray and started to run down the beach, I finally reached them and picked them up, as I stood I felt a sharp piercing pain and I look at my shoulder to see blood coming out of it,"fuck, I'd been shot!' I said. With the pain still very there I got up and ran back up the beach and gave them to my lt. After I few minutes I heard a loud bang and then dirt and ripped apart barbed wire flying in the air and the words "Take cover!" as the dirt fell on all of us. I called for a medic and one came and fixed me up the best they could. I looked to see everyone moving futher up the beach and jumped up and ran with them, more and more men were getting picked off. I smacked into the wall breathing very heavily from the run. I had six men with me. I ordered two to try and make the run to a trench and the second the stepped out they didn't have a chance. When the first boy was shot I saw the way he turned and looked at me and the look was "Why? why did you send me to die?" and then he fell and layed motionless. we were running out of men, ideas and most important, time!

Art Attack 08-14-2002 05:10 PM

Come on peeps!

Old Reliable 08-14-2002 05:42 PM

Well, if only I knew how it was...

intrestedviewer 08-14-2002 05:57 PM

There was no way we where gonna make it like this. I knew if I sent more people they would just get slaughtered. We needed a new plan. Everyone was to take their grenades and throw em at the emplacement. Then we would rush out guns a blazing. It was our only chance. Ok lets do it. Everyone pulls the pins from their grenades and rapidly throws em up to the emplacements. i hear a lot of confused germans screaming randome things. The grenades explode, chunks of dirt and flesh are thrown up into the air, now! We gotta go now! "covering fire"
The small band of soldiers shoots in the direction of the MGs. I run shooting shots up the ridge. Its hard to see and think clearly. I can barely see with all the dirt and smoke everywhere. All i knew was that i had to get to the trench or a was a dead man. I run and run and keep on running, the world around me a blur. i jump into the trench, not even realizing that i had unloaded the entire clip and was fireing nothing but air now. i had made it to the trench. But what about the others? I look back to where we had crossed, there in scorched earth and pools of blood were my brothers in arms. But i notice, there is one missing where is he? i turn to face the length of the trench. There in a sudden wonder and confusion i see my buddy fighting off a kraut. I had jumped in so wildly that i didnt even notice them. They where wresling, fighting each other at hand to hand. All of a sudden a puff of dust comes out of my buddys back. He drops to the floor. The kraut standing there looking at me with a whalter in hand.

Art Attack 08-14-2002 06:08 PM

He looked me in the eye and I looked him in the eye. The world was still moving in slow motion and he turned and point his weapon at me. I still had my Thompson in hand but with nothing in the clip. I sighed and dropped my gun. The kraut turned to look at my buddy to make sure he was dead and that whean I grabbed my colt .45 side arm and unleased a clip into his chest. He dropped before I ran out of bullets. I sat back down in the trench, I was alone, no more men with me, out of ammo, out numbered. Just as I was getting up I heard a loud ear piercing sound and then it all went blank. I slowly opened to eyes to see a doctor standing above me looking at him. I couldn't talk, I had no clue where I was, then I blacked out again.

Lt Col.Rick[505th] 08-14-2002 07:02 PM

I woke up to the thrasing of artillery shells. I was abandoned by the medic. I felt fine except for the pain in my shoulder but it wasn't bad enough to stop fighting. I was in a trench about 1/3 up the beach. There were wounded everywhere. Some blood from a nervous cpl next to me sprayed my face. He was not blinking just breathing. I left the med camp and moved up the beach. The men were being massacred with the machine guns in the canyons. I ran up next to a major and started to talk to him "Where is the tank support?!". He answered "THERE IS NO TANL SUPPORT!" Then a machine gun round pierced his chest. Then a wounded private came up to me and said "Give these letters to my father and son they are about courage, honor and sacrifice". I had never seen the man before but I took them anyways. There was a little MG-42 nest up there. I had to try to find a bazzoka man...
(keep going this dosent mean stop)

Art Attack 08-14-2002 07:18 PM

After running around like a chicken with it's head cut off I found two snipers and a bazooka man. I told them what we had to. As we ran up the beach I looked at the ground and that that cpl. dead from a bullet in the head, we continued up the beach till we got to a safe spot to take aim.v I got one of the snipers to try first but he got ripped aprt by the MG-42. The boy with the bazooka was to scared so I took it from him, took aim and fired blasting the MG-42 into the air. After that I got a squad of men together and headed up the hill towards another allied camp. when we got there it was just a smoking creater.

Captain Bunny 08-14-2002 07:21 PM

Through the shells and gun fire i heard a faint call that sounded like "cut". After a few seconds it became clearer. "CUT!! CUT!! CUT!!" then a small bearded man leaped into the trench beside me carrying what looked like a notebook. "Are you intelligence?" i gingerly asked him. "No im your damn director and you were supposed to die on the beach like all the other men did. You just ruined a very expensive take. Growlled Mr Speilberg.

Art Attack 08-14-2002 07:27 PM

boo

Captain Bunny 08-14-2002 07:37 PM

Sorry :D

ok se where did we get up to.......oh yeah a small bearded man jumps into the trench beside me and shouts CUT!! CUT!! im cut real bad somebody gotta help me. I looked at his cut, only to see it was more of a puncture than a bad cut. I took his notebook and pressed it onto his wound and told him to hold it there i then took some morphine off a dead medic and gave him a couple of jabs. his breathing relaxed a little. Just then two more men appeared, one of them was a major.
"where the hell do we go now"
"Hang on, ill get the map and guide off my luietenant" he replied.
The major crawled over to the to the solider i had just helped, and said "you got our plan?"
the leutenant held up the very blood soaked and disintegrating notebook i had used to cover his wound
"did it look like this?" he fearfully replied.
The men looked at each other, then looked at me. I knew they were pissed off somewhat at me so this was my chance to make things right and get these lads the hell out of here....

So I said f*** off mr. director, if you were running the real thing like this movie, we would have lost the war!
then I pulled the trigger on my M-1 only to realize that I was firing blanks.
So I clubbed him upside the head with the rifle butt. :D

lets get back to the story

Zoner 08-15-2002 07:33 AM

I unscrewed the cap of my dented metal canteen and drank deeply. The sweet coolness of the water was slightly tinged with the salty taste of sea water and the metallic coppery taste of my own blood. Popping a fresh clip into my Thompson, I began to think of what to do next.

A young private from 2nd Rangers dove in the trench behind me, under a hail of tracers.

"Private Sparkes here, sir.", he wheezed as he tried to catch his breath. "Half my squad is gone, sir. I guess I'm with you now."

I gave the kid a quick nod of my head (christ, he couldn't have been more than 17 years old) and tried a strained smile. I signalled to my men to stay low and gather around me. I hadn't the slightest clue what to tell them.

I popped my head up out of the trench, quickly surveying the surroundings. Two MG-42s on the cliff's edge about 100m away, claymore mines straight ahead and to the left.

I ducked back into the trench with a better idea of where to go from here.

"Alright, listen up. We've got one shot at this. Layton, Morris, and Harvey, you proceed east down this trench about 50 yards. Sparkes, Pearson, and Paul, you go west, 50 yards. On my signal, put some fire on those MG-42s. Haynes, Pack, Robertson, and Gonzalez you're with me. Mind the claymores, there's a crater ahead that should give us defilade from those crews. Stick close and keep your heads down. Everyone clear? God be with you."

On my signal, the two groups of men proceeded down the trench to their points. Halfway down the trench, Sparkes suddenly dropped to his knees, then collapsed completely. There was a stream of blood oozing out of the right side of his helmet. Sniper.

Alrighty..take it from here!

Claymores?
the claymore mine was developed during Korea to stop human wave attacks, and was mostly used in 'Nam.

I was waiting for the Bangalore Mod, but when it did'nt come I just left.

Lt Col.Rick[505th] 08-15-2002 07:33 PM

The squads I sent were just more casualties only 2 survived. I thought to my self "I must be more careful every descion I make may kill many men". I looked around and saw people dieing, blood, gore and I saw tears. I decidied we had to have more support fire. I called what was left of another company over. I said "Ok you, you and you provide cover fire while the rest of the company moves up. Then I yelled go! A artillery shell toke off two men's leg and ones head. The two hit in the leg were still alive saying to their buddys "help me. help me. I didn't let any of the men go after them they had no hope left to live. So I took out my Colt 45. and shot them in the head. Many of the men started cursing at me and some cryed. But we were still in the war. My squad was the farthest up the beach. I decided we had to get in the bunkers and turn the Mg-42s on the nazis...

Lt Col.Rick[505th] 08-16-2002 09:39 AM

come on everyone

Lt Col.Rick[505th] 08-25-2002 10:28 AM

come on add on to the story

Pfc.Green 08-25-2002 10:40 AM

And the mr. Nazi mans head exploded when a V-2 rocket hit his foot, he said ow.

Bazooka_Joe 08-25-2002 01:08 PM

Even as I am enlisted in the US Army, I still don't think I could move my legs when those doors opened at Omaha Beach. Too much fear. The life expancenty when those boat doors opened was three seconds.

If I had a choice, I'd stay in Italy, but if forced to, I will help invade Normandy.

08-25-2002 09:33 PM

The sight was...well there was no sight. The placed was filled dust and sand from the landmines popping my men one by one until me and Private Pee Wee was left all by ourselfs. Suddenly I heard the distinct sound of German speaking.
"Wus iz da Kapatin?"
"Achtung! LOs Los Los!!!"

Me and pee wee hid behind this huge pile of sand wondering what they were saying.

" werfen Sie Ihre Granaten"
"Jawolhl!!!"

Then total silence filled the atmosphere apart from the artillery pounding the beaches and MG-42s firing.
For a second I though the huns were gone but a grenade landed right before our eyes.
My eyes opened wide and I screamed "Take cover!!!" I knew I was gonna die......
Right then Pee Wee jumped and took the grenade and threw it back.

I heard a whisper "Schenide....."

Boom!!!!!

I peeped over the pile of sand and saw a pile of gore and a dead german body. It seemed the grenade exploded in such a way that the wooden handle on the grenade launched of the explosive part and flew straight to a soldier who was attempting to escape only to have a piece of wood stuck up his ass.

I opened my bottle to look for water. There was no water. I turned around to Pee Wee and said " You go ahead while I'll wait for reinforcements"......................

Da Reaper 08-26-2002 10:52 AM

off topic: a bit stupid that one

anyways

I ordered Pee Wee to cover me so i could get to better cover, he didnt respond, i turned to him and saw his wide eyes fixed upon me, he hadn't even seen the Kraut who bagged him, his helmet had gone and the back of his had was missing, blood and skull where everywhere, i saw grey on my lap. I was on my own, it was now or never, i jumped up, tommy gun at the ready and unleashed the rounds left in the clip into a group of Germans on in a trench, the thud of the impact and the tearing sound of the bullets ripping through the mens bodies chilled me but i went on, not noticing the Kraut behind a rock to my left. I aimed at his head and fired, 'CLICK', shit!
the mag was dry, he sneered, i closed my eyes.
