Help yours truly out with his sound problem

Hey guys, you may have heard me talking about this before, but I want to see if any of you smart fellows can help me solve my problem.

I bought Operation Flashpoint a while ago and had sound problems with it. You could hear the sound for a few seconds once the game started up but then it would cut out and you wouldn't hear anything else at all. Also when you quit the game, mp3's would not work and if I tried to log onto the internet it would just sti there and say "detecting proxy settings". I'd have to restart my computer to get everything to work again. This also happened with Black & White and now I just got Ghost Recon and the sound doesn't work there either. Weird because the sound in MOH works fine.

I'll put in the letter I wrote to the makers of Operation Flash Point and maybe that'll help out a little. This really pisses me off though, I spent probably a month sending e mails back and fourth to OFP Customerservice without anything getting solved. Hopefully someone here can shed some light on the problem. Thanks.

[quote:54941]I purchased OF Gold Edition and game runs fine but the sounds sometimes does not work. It will work for the main menu but sometimes cut out. If sound lasts through the entire time in the menu, when I start to play the game there is no sound at all. If I exit the game and try to play an mp3 music file it will not work. I am running the first version of OF that came on the CD. I have also attached my direct x diagnostics. My system is running win98 with a SiS 7012 Wave sound device. I have had other problems with other games. I do however have Medal of Honor and all the sounds work fine on it.

How can I fix this problem?

uh set your sound acceleration to "no acceleration"? or to "full acceleration"?
Well what kind of sound card do u have? is it directx compatible?
Or go tp control pannel under sound speech and audio devices and go to "sounds and audio devices" go to the "audio" tab and switch the sound playback default device?

When people ask you questions like this tell them one thing:

Check for fucking drivers and download them!!

Even if they say "i've already done that" tell them to do it anyway.

Man, I thought I had up to date drivers. Go to the website, download a driver, restart the computer and everything works fine!!

No fucking way!!

Yes fucking way!!

Juesus christ what kind of idiot am i?

At least it was something simple, but what a fucking idiot I am.

in ghost recon, ofp, and that other game u mentioned the sound works fine for me. but in mohaa the sound dosent work fine with me. i think u should maybe buy a crap sound crd like me that supports directx and then everything will work fine except for mohaa.

Seriously, either try to upgrade the drivers, or get a new soundcard, preferablly one by Creative (Soundblaster series)
