I can't stand strict servers! ok if you want to run a clean server fne if someone is going around constalntly flameing people or tking kick them but swearing? iv been kicked many times because i sliped out the word fuck aftter i got killed. the other day i saw a perfectly good user get banned for haveing arse in his name. i have been banned countless time because i have the word scrotem in my name. some of these server admins spend more time kicking/banning players thn they do playing the game. yes there are tons of power trip admins out there. i was kicked once cause i was leaning. too bad the waffenss server wasnt up... we have no auto kick programs.. no ff.. and theres always an admin on, and their never drunk on their own power. we only kick people when they start saying things like waffenss is shit they are stupid.

I think it's great. Rude and the others have done an awesome job in cleaning up their server. The chat filter is great (although people are finding ways around it - i.e. I saw a guy on there yesterday with an obscene name with no spaces in it). Dunno if there's anything you could do about that, though. Well, other than admins personally booting the idjit. In any case, well done Joe and Red (I think those guys are responsible for the filter...).

Well some servers are waaaaay to strict. Like 1st offense yur banned. WTF? Thats rong, number one because im pretty sure if yur old enuff to play mohaa yur old enough to swear, and number 2, WHAT IF IT WAS AN ACCIDENT??!?!!!?!?!

Dont get me wrong, we allow cursing and smack talk on our server, but those are our rules. You guys should try the favorites feature of game spy or ASE. When you find a good server that will put up with it, bookmark it. I also advise you to stay away from servers where the host is 0 ping. The mos tlikely set up a server for them and their friends and then some potty mouth comes crashing. It really works out well for both parties. You want a server you can cuss on and theirs isnt one of those. They are just helping you find your goal.

We are surrounded by rules everywhere we go. You break the rules, there are consequences. Get used to it. Thats how society works.

Yea good points, but i mean when u die and u wanna say something, how many people are gonna say "O FIDDLESTICKS" or something to that effect. We are all human and in some ways we all want to disobey and be rebels......rite? Or am i the only dumass here....lol

TIC server allows swearing. With common sense limits. Dont push your luck. No slamming on players, and no racial remarks. I toss people without warning for the N word. Which i've heard supprizingly to frequent latley.

Though also latly it has been a shotgun rocket newb fest. Im not setting foot in it for a while. Hopefully homework will swamp these damn kids pretty soon and Mohaa will be less lame.

if you come into my server and swear....your gone.i dont tolerate in my server.firstly i dont see the point.the regulars in my server say i have one of the few they let there kids play on..as for the name thing..yes...you wouldnt last 30 seconds on my server...i figure anyone with a name like that aint got sence enough to play the game with resonable people ..and you proved me right by complaining you cant use the f word without getting kicked...so by kicking you right off the bat...i spared everyone from being subjected to your fowl mouth....so i guess my way works pretty well...i usually advise them theres a moron server someplace...GO FIND THAT ONE..just before i kick and ban them from my server....like the man said..ITS MY SERVER...ill run it as i see fit for my players....by the way...my server is always full because a lot of people apprecaite the way i run it....and will continue to run it....BUTCHER

I say keep up the good work server admins! Run these things as you see fit. They have every right to run it however they want. No one is forcing these players to the servers, so don't complain.

Also, how in the world can you "slip" and physically go ahead and type out a bunch of swearing. That's a cop-out, plain and simple. If you want to act out your frustrations, swear out loud, throw a brick at the wall, run up and down the street naked for all I care. Just don't share with me.

I pay for my server, (AA.COM game server) I like to have a nice clean game and yes some of our members do like to have their kids play/watch.

These are my rules.

You can always pay $75 per month for a 16 player MOH server and call it "swear feast come on in and join the party" That's fine.

I would even play on it. But rules are rules. Like someone else said you can always find another server to play on that allows your nick and does not mind the offensive language.

From my experience, on any server. Everyone is always given a warning. If you "slip" twice, then your out of luck. Sorry

if you dont want people swearing get the program that filters it! then all problems are salved & the person can start swearing & all that comes up is duck (i always get a lugh when someone types fuck but it shows up as duck that then go "what the duck? i typed duck not duck!" biggrin:

We do use that, We where the first server to do so.

But you have the occasional little kiddies who likes to try and bypass the filter.

well the right thing to do for an admin is to warn a player first and at least let them know what is expected of them.. if they can't handle that then what right do they have to bitch?? they should go and pay for run their own server at 50$ a month if they cna't handle being a guest on someone elses server.. geeze.

The only problem with the chat filter script is that it doesn't work on names, because the localization uses the oddball &&& to represent a player's name. With the SDK, I suppose i could write a script that includes names, but it's impossible right now.

Well the chat filter, Crow Kings server runs it, and well when i first when in i had a blast playing with it, but now well now i Just hate it, or shall i say I hate the people messing with it all the time, but I dont blame them for having some fun for it when they first encounter it, i Know i loved it, afterall where else can you type Vagina only for it to come out as taco. But oh well,

HA, it IS funny to see somebody type the f-word only to see it come up as duck. I think for future releases on the chat filter somebody should program it to say "I'm an idiot" whenever someone uses the f-word. Just imagine the look on their faces! As for not allowing swearing, I think it is okay to swear, but personally I think it makes you look like a tool to keep on using the f-word or fag or queer to everybody else in the server. Whenever I want to type something, I say "crap" instead of "duck". What?? the chat filter is on this too!? Duck this! Eat my motherducking grass!! Oh sorry, sometimes I have outbursts. Anyway, on my server the only thing that gets you kicked is showing disrespect to anybody else and that includes team members.

when you use the f word in my sever it says....EXCUSE ME!!! IM A MORON...AND ABOUT TO BE KICKED FOR TRYING TO USE THE F WORD IN THIS SERVER..JUST WANTED TO SAY GOODBYE!!!!...and at that point he is kicked and banned from my server..what most players dont realize is the countless hours spent to create a server just the way you want it to run...mods ..maps ..whatever...it takes long hours in front of the computer..then just when you get it all set exactly how you want it and get a bunch of good people in there on a regular basis to play along comes these jackasses who think they can show up and do anything or say anything they want,,,WELL THEY CANT...YOU CALL IT BEING PICKY...I CALL IT TAKIN CARE OF MY HOUSE....its a lot easier to just kick and ban them then to try and reason with them when most of the time you just get more cuss words for your trouble...THATS WHY A LOT OF SERVER ADMINS ARE QUICK ON THE TRIGGER...ME INCLUDED...BUTCHER

my servers popular in two ways...believe it or not..I GET 5 OR 6 WORM VIRUSES SENT TO ME A WEEK ....theres somethin else most people dont relize...i run the server on my own computer...made the mistake of givin my email out a few times...now im constently under attack by a few people who didnt appreciate being banned from my server..another part of the price i pay to have a clean server....on the up side...yes..your right..my server is popular...the regulars are mostly adults..fun loving..we all laugh..cut up..do a lot of clubbin..everybody laughs when that happens,,,even the guy who got clubbed...there no rockets...and only 2 gernades..its a ultramod with a few changes and all my maps are modded..your all welcome to stop by until your not welcome any more...server is called BUTCHES ULTRAMOD/NODAIALUPS i have auto kick set at 150...i know thats low but with all the mods you gota be fast to hang and avoid lag...its based outa tampa florida...SERVER RUNS EVERY EVINING....HOPE TO SEE YA THERE...BUTCHER one more thing i forgot..every 10 minutes i have a message that explains the rules and behavior.that sould be enough for anyone who can read.

The main problem is player perception VS player reality.

your right...sometimes i do give a warning first...if a guy says the f word in a sentance and hes been doin fine for a while..seems like a ok guy...ill say..watch the language...sometimes he says...ok..sorry...no harm no foul..sometimes a new guy will fly into a whole series of cuss words..for that i have no patience....hes gone..and like i said before..my server carries a warning message..it say..NO ROCKETS,NO RESPON KILLING OR BAD LANGUAGE,,OR DISRUPTING THE GAME BY BEING A GENERAL JACKA$$...THESE THINGS WILL GET YOU KICKED WITHOUT WARNING...this message appears every 10 minutes...a lot of the time ill put it to a vote...ask the players...sometimes they say..give the guy a break..ok...sometimes they say..kick him..hes gone...i feel like its my server...but its also the regular players who show up every night...its there game too...and they should have a say on whos stays and who goes...so it just depends on the situation...EXCEPT...if a players name is offensive..LIKE YOURS FOR EXAMPLE...i dont ask..there i just kicked and ban...theres no vote there...thats my decision alone...and thats how it goes at my server...some people may not agree...but like a wise man once said in this post....theres a 1000 other servers to play on if you dont agree...BUTCHER

By the by, I expected to get the new version of the chat filter out by the weekend that just passed. I forgot about school! oOo: So, I got a little side tracked. I plan on releasing it within another week or so.

So WE who are paying for the servers are supposed to go out and get a program cause you are not mature enough to handle yourself Scrote....dear god the audacity some of these children have. Sometimes I give warnings sometimes I dont. I give warnings that I am about to start kicking snipers when there are 24 people on our server and 16 of those are snipers. Do they listen..no. So I say it once then start booting.

Kicking with no warning at all, is a bit extreme... i'll give you that.

However you need to understand where the average server admin is coming from when he sets his/her rules for said server.

I'll give you the example of [DSB]

We take pains in setting up our servers. We take the time to set up a clan website to get members, then when we have enough we raise funds for a hosted server, which we spend much time setting up just right for low ping/lag. Our players decide on basic rules for this server and then open it up to the public. After much time and hard work we get a loyal base of regulars that call this server home.

Now i ask you. When a player comes in and uses language thats deemed offensive to our set of rules... what would you have us do?

A: Allow this to continue , and upset our our player base of regulars?

-Or-

B: a single warning and the boot.?

Before you answer, lets multiply this problem. Lets add the fact that we have 3 Mohaa servers, 2 Counter Strike Servers, 1 RTCW, and 1 BF1942 Server that has the same type of problems with foul mouthed players.

I'm not saying we don't want people to have fun or yell out when they get fragged or if they have a good shot. But lets be honest here. Almost everytime you leave the language door wide open you get nothing but flamming gutter mouthed spamming.

99% of the time if a player is cursing it's only to belittle another player. It takes effort to type the messege and put forth the insult, and that means its never an accident. If you can't function on a server or play the game without cursing, then its a fault in yourself not the server admin.

outstanding post...most of the average players who just run the game and look for a server has no idea the time and effort that goes into a poppular and well run server..they jump in..do and say whatever they want..and think there no repercussions for there actions..over 50% of the time if i tell a player to watch the language i get a whole line of cuss words telling me what to do with my server..hes kicked of course..and hes off to find another server to disrupt without giving it a second thought.its no wonder some server admins are quick on the trigger...im guilty of it myself..when im not playin my self i put a regular in charge of the game..when i get back in i ask..everything ok...if he says kick this guy or that guy and gives me a good reason...there gone....my servers tightly policed...the name of this post is picky servers...look it up in the dictionary...youll see butches ultramod...on the other hand...5 minutes after i start the server..its full of regulars who come back night after night...WONDER WHY???...BUTCHER

i agree completely, I am the one PAYING the MONEY for you and everyone else to play on MY server. I have taken all the time it takes to download all of the files and special mods for the server. I am the one that has searched for 2 months to find an answer to my problem (and this is true, thanks for the help doggie). and what have you done, came into MY server and disrupted everyone, i happen to have 2 kids, both are old enough, but if they were younger, i would not let them play on any server without my supervision, just cause of the cursing and swearing that goes on in some of them. we all get enough of that in real life, and we dont need any of it when we, or our family's are trying to sit down, relax, and have a good time. Its my server, and i have done the work, i will run it the way i want, and kick and ban who i want. and if you want to come back in after i kicked you and argue with me about it, ill ban you, and have all the other servers in my clan ban you as well, and even try to get others to ban you as well, thats just how i feel about the subject.

when i first posted here i figured i was goina get racked over the coals for my opinion and the way i run my server...but to my surprise i find im not the only one who cares about the way its run..i find that refreshing...and lets me know im not alone in the fight against disruptive players in our game...thanks to the other server admins who took the time to post there feelings and rules here...maybe some players will learn something by reading our posts and realize that there are games that dont tolerate bad behavior...and possibly let new players know there are quality games they join and enjoy with there families and let there kids play there without fear of bad language and offencive names...i leave with new found hope for the game in general...BUTCHER

You will be surprised to find out. Many of the members here at AA.com are older some with family and younger children who like to play or watch their older siblings / parents play.

I do not tolerate abusive players. I pride myself and the regular players who make the aa.com game server what it is. They have no problem following the rules and letting their kids play as well.
