>>in multiplayer, "SERVER CONNECTION TIMED OUT&am

WHERE DO I START, ITS COMPLICATED...BUT I CANNOT SEEM TO CONNECT IN ANY WAY SHAPE OR FORM to join a game...everytime it say s the server timed out....no matter if i start in gamespy, or through the game itself, which i cant get a list of server to appear(only once today 11/24/02), but trying to connect thru gamespy, or the game itself, i keep getting that error...now these are the other FACTS..........

1. i have the MOHAA patch, the 15.3mb, us/uk patch, and installed it, it was by default installed into the C:PROGRAM FILESMOHAA\ folder, that is where there is a text file with it as well....that is where it is supposed to be right???

2. i have selected the cable setting for my connection speed, on the in-game setting, because i have attbi.com HSD, cable modem....

3. i have no Router, Firewall or Anti-Virus programs running at all.period...i do have them on 'puter but i cntrl/alt/delete everything out except the obvious ones...systray & explorer....

4. mmmm what else? i was on a game today thru the game itself there was a list that appeared after i hit the "browse server list" i think it was called, and there were over 5,200 soldiers playing....and i played on a few servers for a time....but i have went back there a few times and cant get the list to appear again? i think it said that that server service was ran thru gamespy as well....

5. IS there any chance that the actual game itself, be causing it???? or a a setting...

6. THATS IS ALL I CAN THINK OF.....ANY HELP OR DIRECTION WOULD BE SOOOO GOOD.....thanks a lot, i have had some good help here once before. THANKS SO MUCH.....UsaCrusader....aka Marylin Mansons Brother....

Why did you put the whole message in bold?

Thermopyle 11-25-2002 01:27 AM

I get this sometimes: It loads a level, and gets to about 95% of the bar, then goes to *Server Connection Timed Out*

I say, *WTF!*

Then I bring down the console and type *reconnect*

Voila! I get in. Try it if that is the same problem you have.

Haha, w00t, Joe wins!

Anyways. . .

1) Make sure you have all of the Windows98 Critical Updates.

2) Make sure you have the latest video drivers from ATI.COM

3) I don't think you can install SH without V1.11 of MOHAA, but just make sure you have it installed.

4) Try pinging the IP address of the server you are attempting to join using the MS-DOS prompt, and typing "Ping XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX", no quotes, where XXX = the IP address.
