i gotta problem with my PS2

and don't say i should by a new one or a different console, cuz i'm sticking with my PS2. It all started happening back when i first played GTA3. Around the 2nd month i got it, it started to say "Disc Read Error" when i played it. At first, i thought it was just a mistake. Then it started to happen every month with GTA3 only, so i started to think i played the game to much and i think i should stop. So then i got NHL 2002, and it did the same thing. I got pissed and i thought something was wrong. It then started to work and nothing happened like that until now. I just put in Madden 2003 and for the first 5 times i put it in, it said "Disc Read Error." I got incredibly pissed and put GTA: VC in, and it did the same thing for the next few tries. I then put in Madden 2001 (yes 2001), and it did the same thing. Does anyone know how to fix this stupid "Disc Read Error" cuz it pisses me off to much.

Ahah, exact same thing happened to me. When I rented Jak and Daxter (long time ago) I kept getting that to the point where nothing worked. I tried cleaning them, etc. We eventually called Sony and had to send it in to get it repaired. They say it's something that happens with static electricity, which fries a component in there, and it was only present in the first few shipments of the system. So, you may have to send it in and wait several weeks..

It's a typical problem which can be corrected by purchasing a better console. biggrin: Either that or you have funked up the lens with snot and shit and it it needs a good cleaning. Get to it boy !!

I got the console last year in April. This year in January when I would play a game with a blue colored bottom on the disk, the game would flicker. Then soon it gave me the disk read error. I was very pissed becasue a lot of the sports games were that colors. Anyway I sent it to Sony who charged me $110 to "fix" it. It didnt seem like they did anything to it so I sent it ack and they gave me a new one, but kept the $110. I was so pissed off. mad:

Anyway I didnt know what to do but that was my problem. If you still have your warrenty it will be fine.

Anyone think its kinda strange that the ps1 and ps2 both have problems with their respective optical media drives even though thy are completly different kinds of drives?

Not a bit of wonder theres a rumor going about saying they are made to break so it can bump up sonys "we've shipped x amount of consoles" tirade they use every chance they can. hake:
