FPS Bug? If you have same problems or can help please do!
 

I have a Radeon 8500 128 meg gfx card. I run typically 95 fps most every map except snowy which is like 50ish. The last week I been getting HUGE frame hits all at once, where my fps goes all the way to 5 and then goes back up to about 95. I havent changed any of my settings from before so it is not a settings issue. This FPS drop is only a few seconds long , then it seems to recover (its just long enough for me to lag REALLY bad and die).My wife is on the same comp i have running with a geforce4 card and has no problems. We are running with 1000 meg of ram on each comp, and our connection is to die for. Trying to eliminate problems I reinstalled MOHAA. Updated to 1.11, and am running no mods at all. When my framerate "dies" she gets none of it so I know its not a lag issue. I run no other progs when im playing, and neither does she. Im running windows XP. I think this started about the same time that they patched Spearhead. I have talked to a few other people who all had this problem start in the last week or so and they all have ATI cards.

Does anyone out there have a clue what would make my fps drop all the way to 5 from 95 ?

I've had the exact same problem recently as has one of my good friends. We each have geforce cards, mine is an overclocked gef3 ti200 and he has the gef4 ti4400 and we both typically run around 90-95 fps but have been getting crazy drops from time to time down into the red. Not sure what is causing it though, but it never happened before.

Now, have you actually installed Spearhead, and the patch, or this just started happening when the patch and SH came out?

same is happening here..only on certain spots of the map! and i have an ovetclocked g4 64mb ti!!

I have installed spearhead, yes. I have patched AA to 1.11, Yes. Like I said it started a week or a week and a half ago out of the blue. Right about the time that the SH "patch" came out. I am nowhere close to overclocking my gfx card.
