A question for you fellow computer techs
Ok, I'm upgrading my CPU. Right now I have an ASUS A7A266 mobo and my CPU socket is AMD 462 (socket a).
NOW, here is the problem: Will CPUs that use the Socket A work on my Socket 462 (which I THINK says Socket A)??? It's just confusing.... -Thanks |
i dunno oOo:
|
Socket 462 = Socket A. Just make sure you update your firmware & BIOS on your mobo, then install the new parts. That way, if you get a 1.5Ghz processor, it will be more hardware-friendly.

Thanks Joe.
Looks like I'm gonna have to flash my BIOS :/ and what do you mean by firmware?? as in updating my chipset or something? |
Anyone know a good PCI Video card? I have a Dell and it can only fit PCI Shit in it.

Better off just spending 600 bucks and building your own computer.

Another question: What if I fdisk or reformat my HD?? Do I need to re-update my BIOS, or it doesn't affect it?? |
