Zoner can you teach me the ways of fading a flag like in my sig i want to know how to do it

I'm not Zoner, but this is the way I would do it:

Take the flag layer, add a layer mask > hide all.
Select white as your foreground color, use the gradient tool, and set the gradient to "foreground to transparent".
Apply the gradient to the layer mask in the direction you want.

ok i did all of that but the fading sucks it looks like crap it doesnt even work i dont know if im doing something wrong or what
