germ look at the instructions that came with the damn thing or get an adult to do it
|
these wires and connectors dont have instructions, i know how to plug it in, but i don't know how to make each seperate
|
not for the wires, for the harddrive and cd-rom.

i mean can i use 2 seperate cables instead of the 2 headed ide ones
|
if you have two yes but you don't need to, the two headed ones are for saving space mainly. Just make sure you put the harddrive cable in the master port
|
Germ, there should be a seperate cable that came with ur CD-Rom and use that...there should be three parts to it one for master, slave, and mobo like u said then the harddrive should have to exact same thing, but use that to and plug them both into differnt IDE slots, the mobo should have instructions for which IDE is harddrive, cd-rom etc...hope this helps
btw..mobo = motherboard |
so master mode= disable slave mode? so i just plug that into the mother board, now the second long hole on the motherboards right next to the hardrive/motherboard hole is for the cd rom drive right?
what do i set that to? master mode for cd rom drive also? |
dude ur kind of confusing me..on each device it should have instructions on how to set the device to master or slave and it is really easy man just read the instructions...i guarentee it will help
|
ok, thanks.

just connect one cable to your hard drive and one to your cd-rom and get it over with |
thanks
|
no problemo

Not even kidding, those are good pics Germ! lol I knew exactly what you meant when I saw them.
Just to clear up, it IS possible to run both a CD-ROM and a HD off of one cable from one IDE Controller off the mobo, alot of older Compaq systems were configured this way. But, newer mobos, maybe since about 1996 - 1997, all have 2 IDE Controllers: 1 for your HD's, the 2nd for your CD-ROM's. So, you could have two IDE HD's (1 Master, 1 Slave), and your DVD-ROM & CD/RW drive all at once. |
