Hey, I'm getting a camera soon and was just wondering what good ones are around in the $300-$500 price range, and that are fairly compact. What do you guys think?

I think that's a good idea that you're getting one.

you can save quite a bit getting it off ebay.

they just had something about this on The Screensavers. They recommended a Nikkon or Canon. The person had the same price range as you do. They said to look for something too, but I can't remember what the hell it is. Someone help me out. I know it's not the megapixel or whatever it is they call it. I think, shutter speed.

You want the highest pixel count and optical zoom ratings you can get. Also, make sure the media cards are a reasonable price and easy to find/upgrade.

I have a Sony Cybershot, never had ANY problems. you can get a 128meg card now for $70-$80 at Bestbuy, it'll hold about 150 pix depending on the format you use. It was $450 when i got it 2 yrs ago.
