Swapping to ATI from nvidia

A friends 9800pro is not running up to specs. I have heard nvidias drivers will make an ATI underperform until you can get them off. I know the simple solution is to get rid of the nvidia drivers, but i hear its not as easy as it sounds. mad:

Anyone here had this problem? How'd you fix it?

disk cleanup, find the nvidia drivers and remove them.

its that easy

I have been on other sites where that was the recommended course of actions *shudders*. People complain that detonator destroyer doesnt work and disabling the drivers dont work. The driver cleaner was reccomended, and I think we will try that first.

I am thinking nvidia does this shit on purpose to try and get new ati owners pissed at ati. mad:

I'm not sure if any of those NVidia drivers are on my PC from my GeForce 3, but I'll try that when I get a chance.

Anyone think that could be the reason my Radeon 8500 keeps causing BF1942 to crash? I previously had a GF2 MX400 installed.
