gun control

what's everyone's stance on gun control?

I say that basically they need to run a background check to make sure you haven't been in prison, the nuthouse, and you haven't been investigated for domestic abuse or rape. If you haven't done any of these you can basically buy any gun you want, including full autos. (provided that you are an adult)
one should however have to get a license to carry concealed or open weapons in the streets.

I think the best deterrent to criminals is knowing that they may face instant death or a month in the hospital followed by prosecution if they chose to commit crimes.

very valid Gerard,

and with The (un) Patriot Act in effect and not likely to be struck down as unconstitutional anytime soon, I recommend that every American buys one or more firearms if they do not yet own any (preferrably longarms) before Asscroft says that Al Quaeda may pose as citizens to buy guns and takes ours.

Wow! the world must be ending because I agree with something stryker has said for once...and nicely said in the picture gerard.

I don't think thats the answer at all.

Why is it necessary to have full auto weapons and handguns? It's not necessary.

Police in many England son't even carry weapons because firearms are tough to get ahold of. So most likley a criminal won't have a firearm. If you cut that out, its not necessary for the police to have them either.

I don't have a problem with weapons for hunting, most of those who have them are not the criminal type, and unless their stolen, they are not going to be used in a crime. The types of weapons used in crimes are pistols and other such weapons.

Go after the illegal/big ass weapons an leave the hunters alone.

the problem in America is we don't control our borders worth shit.
smugglers routinely bring in drugs, guns, even PEOPLE!
This means that the black market is alive and well, so there's no reason for criminals to buy guns legally, they could be traced.
I think if we banned guns in the US, only criminals would have them.

plus we're a little paraniod about the knuckleheads we elect to government biggrin:

Ya 'know Eames , we are gonna get labled as rednecks but......

I agree as well , I have a sign in the Garage facing out from my door to the house that reads...

Trespassers will be shot , Surviours will be shot again.

ninty 11-26-2003 03:24 PM

Yeah, true I never thought of that.

So then why is it that many european countries don't have the supply of weapons coming in like the states does? In Canada we don't have much of a problem with weapons, but the government does dick all in preventing weapons from coming into the country. The demand just isn't here for weapons.

That's because we don't want our moose or caribou meat peppered with 9mm rounds! Hard on the teeth... biggrin:

that's hardly redneck in my opinion, you have the right to defend your house and your family from criminals. IMO crminals forfeit their lives when they chose to threaten teh innocent.
I'm sure your sign only applies to criminals, not the neighbors kids or anything biggrin:

lol , It was something only Eames would understand.

But I'll fill you in....

We were just talking about the Confederate flag and its meaning. Got a lot of flack , we were the only ones defending it for its true meaning , not the slavery , racist crap.

I agree on the background checks and everything but i dont agree with stryker when u say that if thats all checked out then u should be able to buy a gun. What happens if a man finds out his wife has been cheating on him and he then goes to the shop and buys a pistol and caps the slut and the shit whose sleeping with her? Not a good idea to be able to buy a weapon in the same day. I think the waiting period should be even longer then it is now. I think its a week but i could be wrong. And really there is no point to full auto weapons and pistols. Rifles and shotguns are understandable cause there used for hunting. But im not gonna bolt in a fifty cal. to a jeep and go hunting for wabbits.

Sergeant_Scrotum 11-26-2003 03:30 PM

im not touching this soon to be flame war with a 10 meter pole.

11-26-2003 03:33 PM

I agree with the idea of puchasing full automatic weapons.

Not for hunting of corse , for defence.
And I know what you are gonna say.....

But I will never sacrafice Freedom for security.
