This award, which we first gave in 1993, is for a truly baffling comment.
The 2003 winner is United States Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld for comments in a press briefing.

I thought to "put your foot in your mouth" was to blow it/contradict
yourself/compromise yourself/give away too much information etc

while i have no idea what twaddle, and waffle mean, other than one being a brakfast food, this is in fact not a foot in mouth statment. Ace has the proper discription of the offense. GG dumb-ass website.

Rumsfeld did that too, before 9-11 he said that big aircraft carriers like the USS Nimitz class are outdated and practically useless and we need small carriers for "regional conflicts", shortly thereafter the military sent 3 large carriers to Afghanistan rolleyes:
