Quick laptop connection question
 
I'm at work right now oOo: Well I want to test a laptop I just bought.We got DSL here .I'm trying to get online using the DSL ,but I can't get it to work.
I went to control panel -->Network,played with it but I can't get to it.

I guess need some help eek: Can someone tell me what to do.

Webb, since you're probably on a network at work, you'll need to know the IP, subnet, gateway, and DNS numbers. You'll then have to manually set the numbers up in your laptop.

try setting it to DHCP first. Then go to a cmd line (type cmd under "run") and type:

ipconfig /flushdns

wait for it to flush then type:

ipconfig /release

wait until it releases...then type:

ipconfig /renew

If you don't pull a new ip that is 192.168.x.x or 10.x.x.x then you'll have to get an IP and possibly add your MAC address to a firewall. rock:
