CPU speed problems with my new computer:( help
ok so i finally got my computer all built and shit...
amd athlon 2500 xp+ 512 mb ddr corsair pc-3200 ram geforce 2 blah blah blah blah nice case that lights up and shit... blah blah blah... anyways my processor and fsb arent running at what they should be running at. my processor is currently running at 1100 mhz and my fsb i set the highest at 233 .. which is supposed to run at 333 but there is no option for that... So my processor is running at 1100 mhz and i cant get to it to change it... it says 1100 mhz as an option but i cant find how to get to it...any suggestions? i`m using a pheonix bios i think if that helps lol dunno... and tell me how i can make my fsb to 333... thanks btw my cpu should be at 1833 but i wanna overclock to 2 ghz if possible so i put this on general-gamers.net see if they can help me but ah well... aa.com is the best ! :) so tell me what problem is please:) and is it possible to overclock it to 2 ghz with its default heat sink? With out it heating up i meen... |
First of all, what kind of motherboard do you have ? Your problem is obvious
and related to FSB and multipliers so if you tinker in the CMOS a bit, you will find the problem. Your processor should be running at 166mhz double-speed and the multiplier should be set at 11 (166mhz x 11 = 1833). Don't even TRY overclocking to a 200mhz double-speed FSB (400mhz) to increase your speed to 2GHZ until you get a good heatsink: that is, unless you want to buy a new processor (and whatever else will burn out as well)... |
oh
its an msi k7n2 delta

That motherboard supports FSBs of 200/266/333/400 Mhz (those values are
double-speed so the real values are 100/133//166/200 Mhz) so you should check your multiplier to insure that it is set to 11 and your FSB to 166. Good luck with that ;-) |
hey
do you have aim... talk to me more about this
gameproesh is my sn |
your all wrong! just go into your bios & fix the setting. its currently set too low. cant remember the exact option you need to set it to but it will fix it right away. i had the same problem.

2 ways to fix your fsb.
1 there is a little fuse/jumper right on the mobo you just move to the correct speed. 2. soe olderm obo's require you to changge in in the bios as well. http://www.hardforum.com seek [rpfessional help from alot of the techies at hardforum.com They can help you with you more detailed questions. biggrin: |
