Best Medium to burn DVD Movies On?

Ok got the dvd burner hooked up and its running fine...just test copied lord of the rings(wanted to did a big long movie to test out the compression quality loss)...did it on a dvd+rw that came free with the burner and it worked great...image quality was excellent

My question to you now is what media do you find works best for movies

dvd+r
dvd-r
dvd+rw
dvd-rw

Im figuring either + or - r since rw is so expensive

i use DVD+r works fine with me. I never really "tested" others out.

I've only used DVD-R and it was good.

ShagNasty 06-17-2004 11:41 AM

isnt dvd r + the most common?

[DAS REICH] Blitz 06-17-2004 11:42 AM

DVD-R is the only one I have

The whole DVD scene is quite confusing. I'm sticking to CD-R/CR-RW for the time being. annoy:

Not a clue. It has to do with formatting... but I don't know the specific differences.

I just bought the cheapest.

There is a difference and it comes down (as always) to price and manufacturer. If you are using the discs for storage it doesnt matter one fucking drop of uring which type you use. But if you get into creating movie dvds or backups of games for pc and consoles, then you have to pay greater attention to type AND manufacturer. Cheap DVD's will read will in any drive, but try to have it read in a DVD player or PS2/XBOX and youll be SOL.

So what will an xbox play + 0r -. my + play in most dvd players. but i dont think they will in a ps2 not 100% sure though.

From what ive heard when i worked at A'n'V store, the only difference is that some writers cant handle +, and vice versa.

only use negative -. Never use positive dvd r's. positive is out dated and will most liekly in the next 2 years be discontinued. AS most likely that blue laser dvd's will be avialible within the next few years and with them will come mpeg 4 dvd players, and dvd's capable of 27 gigs per side which meanns a fantastic quality video etc. AVOID postivie dvd r + media at all costs. as for brands avoid pine - they at one point had a 75 % succesful disk ratio. go with maxell, sony, any name brand since most build great disks. cheers beer:
