im not sure if there really is much diference between these cards and if its worth 30 more dollars for the 5600, also if if someone could find better cards under 90 bucks plz feel free to post them.

GraveyardDisciple 07-29-2004 03:02 PM

heard nothing good about 5600

5200 isnt very strong, really not worth it if you plan on playing new games...

save your money , get 9500 or higher ATI

Eames 07-29-2004 05:52 PM

i could get a 9600se ati for 67 bucks but its specs look similiar to the 5200...

SoLiDUS 07-29-2004 05:54 PM

If it must be one of the two, definitely the XT. I would consult benchmarks
and determine which better suits my needs but if it's power you want, take
the latter.

I just got a 5600, I can run farcry compleatly maxed outn& it looks awsome, now mind you it averages about 20fps but on reasonable settings its fine. On games like BF1942 with everything maxed it averages about 40fps. I have had no complaints so far.

well thanks for the help, but im not that computer techy of a guy...so basicly i dont really understand what most of that stuff says, basicly im just looking for a card that will run half life 2, doom 3, and mohpa on medium settings, im not interested in running the game on maxed out graphics or overclocking the card, i dont really play computer games that much to care, so in your guys opinions will the 5200 be able to run these games? or should i play it safe and go with the 5600?

TonyMontana 07-29-2004 08:03 PM

whos the noob that voted 5200 oOo:

Half Life 2 and Doom 3 won't run for shit on either of those cards. 5600 MIGHT do alright on low-medium settings, but that card sucks. If you want a card that will...look into spending AT LEAST 200 bones on one. And unless you are getting a 6800 Ultra, don't buy from nVidia.

Get a 256 mb 9800 Pro or something like that.

256MB 9800 pro has slower ram,so fuck that...Choices:
1)Ati 9800 pro ~200$
2)Ti4200 (get it used on ebay for like 40)

Both of them own the cards you want to buy..

being able to max out the graphics isnt important to me at all, i just want to be able to run the game. i think im going with the 9600

JUST GO WEITH THE 4200. TRUST ME ITS YOU BEST OPTION RIGHT NOW. 53 BUCKS AND ITS A ABIT CARD. whoops caps. anyways the rest aren ot worth them oney etc. just stick with that. it will run alot of newer games faster since it has a faster core. sure no dx 9 support like the 9600 or 5600 , but its faster in genral + those other cards dont have the power to run the new dx 9 features right. for the price just go for it. + the abit seires of 4200's are very very very over clockable. which means your gonna get some nice speeds outta it cheap. go for the 4200 eames. CORE = fast which means good. for you price range its you best option.
