Went to my 1st American Legion meeting
 

I joined up for the American Legion a few months back and went to my first meeting last night. It was pretty cool for being a meeting. First they brought the colors up and said a prayer, then the Legion pledge, and went into the meeting. After the meeting it was free food and beer for the members. I was grteat talking to the old guys about different shit.

For those that don't know, the American Legion is a group in the U.S. for veterans who served in the military during WAR SPECIFIC times only. They have predefined dates that you must've served in. If you didn't you can't join. The great thing is our post has a golf course and I get like 50% off.

no.. you or one of your realatives must of been in a war to get a membership to the legion, my grandfather on both sides of the family were in the war, so i am able to get a membership if i apply for one.

Awesome, where might i get a application?

My grandpa served in the late part of the war, and the Nurembourg Trials. So i should be able to get in?

well you would need to prove that he was in the war with like documents and shit, not sure about the american legions though, also you would need to be of a legal drinking age, seeing thats what most of em do there, (thats where my family goes to get crunck). its basicly a bar, and they hold like meat rolls and shit, well thats what they do round here
