Video Problems

My Specs:

512mb RAM
2.5 Ghz
13gig of 74gig available (HD)
Raedeon 9600xt

I've been having heaps of trouble lately with my games - I have no clue what it could be.
Whenever I would play VietCong, I could play for about 15 minutes fine, no choppyness at all, and a reasonable FPS - After that initial 15 minutes the game would start to go choppy and shitty. After a bit longer, it becomes annoying and unplayable.

HL2 just plays choppy most of the time with the visual effects all turned down/off, and the resolution on the highest setting.

Games like COD and MOHAA used to play fine, and now I notice they get choppy slightly - They used to play fine, no hitches at all, with all the settings turned up. Although the FPS isn't as low on these as it is on VietCong (after the first 15 - 20 minutes), or HL2....

Also - BF42 used to play shitty no matter what settings I had it on...

BTW - I've updated video card drivers.

I dunno what the fuck is going on - But it's so goddamn annoying. Anyone else experienced this problem or something?

Hmm...interesting Tripper...Let me ask you something...Do you clean and dust out your computer fans and Heat sink fan? because if you get those dusty along with your video card it will get hot and the hotter the video card the less performance...so maybe your video card is overheating....

sounds bizarre. could be some kind of over-heating problem.

Trip, if it's not a heat issue, check to see if they have "Soft Modded Drivers" for that card. I'll dig up the link when i find it and post it here.

Ok, looks like your card doesn't use "soft modded drivers" but here's a link to it anyway. This forum has knowledgeable people who will be able to help you.

It probably is an overheating problem....I don't even really think about that aspect of my PC that often.

I found that brand new drivers on older video cards will actully hurt performance.
