driver question
 

i d/led a new driver for my grahpics card (radeon 7500) so whenever i try to install it... i get this error "Setup was unable to complete the installation. Try to setup your display adapter with the standard VGA driver before running setup."
so i searched d/l.com and they didnt have any vga drivers for radeon... so what should i do?? Thanks.

What OS are you using?

If it's XP: Go into device manager and double-click on "Display Adapters", hopefully your Radeon will be listed there. Right-click on it, and select "Uninstall". Reboot your PC. When XP starts up again it'll attempt to install either a standard VGA driver, or it'll install the oldRadeon drivers that come with XP.

After it's done that have a go at installing the new drivers you downloaded.

i don't know if this will help or not, but before i was having the exact same problem and all i did was get a set of older drivers and it worked. then to upgrade i just uninstalled those and reinstalled the newest ones. if that doesn't work then i suggest calling ati or the manufactorer of your computer. g'luck

If is doesnt have an uninstall button go to device manager, I cant remember how to get to it right off the top of my head but it should be hard to do, you can start with right clicking on my computer > Properties. go down to display drivers and select the Radeon driver and delete it click refresh and it should ask you to restart. Then windows will try and install the built in radeon drivers. If your card was an upgrade and a self install, get the CD and put it into the CD-Rom drive after the restart. then Run the setup on it and follow the directions. After you install the original drivers do a cold restart, acutally shutting off the computer and turning it back on, then try reinstalling the updated drivers. But for best bets to upgrade, use the windows update utility, that will automaticly scan your computer for necessary updates and get you the right ones.
