Sound problems

I have a set of Logitech 4.1 speakers and some generic headphones. Lately, my computer has been freezing when i unplug the speakers and plug in the headphones into my sound card (SB Audigy). its annoying to restart the pc, does anyone have any ideas on what could fix it? thx.

So you plug the headphones into the same place as the speakers. I have never had a problem like this but it could be the type of sound card. what i might recommend is that you purchase a headphone splitter. So long as the speakers can be turned off, you can have the head phones plugged into the jack at all times with out it interupting anything, however if the speakers are power directly through the computer jack this could cause a volume drop, but you can fix thatby just unpluging the headphones from the splitter. Also, you can check for driver conflicts which does happen with certain software under certain OS and audio hardware, ie Win 98 Windows Media player and Real Audio software. This type of conflicts screw up drivers and reduce audio capabitilites and increase your issues. The cheapest fix though would be to get the splitter, and just try to do with what you have.

It's ok to open old threads if you have something relevant to add. In the case of these tech problems, however, if they haven't figured out a solution after a month, they're beyond help...heh heh.

Carry on. beer:
