The State of the Union

Comments on the State of the Union address?

I think if they held their applause till the end, this thing would only be 30 minutes long instead of 90 minutes.

As for the speech:

1) Cut the deficit in half by 2009
- How is this going to work? Print money?

2) Bush talked about cutting power plant pollution, then why not join Koyoto like the rest of the world?

3) Less dependance on foreign energy: Venezuela must be breathing a sigh of relief.

4) All those republicans must get a real workout on their legs from standing up and sitting down again and again. I wonder if they have to train for this event.

5) initiative to keep young people out of gangs and respect women: ok

6) double scientific research for somehting i can't remember now.

7) expanding the use of DNA evidence in crimes

8) US to satay on offensive against terrorists until fight is won

9) continue to build clitions to defeat the dangers of our time

10) peace will only be achieved by elimainating radicalism

11) human freedom to stop the force of terror dance:

12) ULTIMATE GOAL: End Tyrrany in the World

13) No intention to impose will on on other countries, because this is what our enemies do

14) advance of freedom will lead to peace

15) Iran world top state sponsorer of terror today /me preps for airstrikes on iran

16) Iraq vital front on war on terror oOo:

17) iraqi people value their own liberty as they showed last sunday (people comence waving blue fingers)

18) yay for sophia the iraqi who got to vote. shes waving with one finger

19) when did this turn into a commentary and summary of events as they happen?

20) extremists wil not overturn will of iraqu people

21) go read the rest of the transcript

I haven't been listening to the speech, as I don't expect to hear anything new. There is one thing that really set wrong with me. As an address by the Elected President of our country, This man, and any man or woman in that position deserves respect, regardless of what they have done or what they say they plan to do. ( of course their are limits to this, such as treason....)

So what did a bunch of senators and representatives do? They booed Bush while he was speaking. That shows a lot of disrespect and stuborness, traits that members of our congress should not show. It reflects very badly on a country as a whole when members of our own law-making body disrespect our Commander in Chief on this scale.

Im not saying you should stand and clap for something you are against, Im not saying that at all. Not clapping is a lot different than childishly interfering with the speech itself.

Oh well, just my thoughts.

Yeah i've heard boos a couple times.

In Canada, if you ever see a session of parliment, half the place is going nuts booing, and the other half is cheering.

I think its different in the States, When Bush was in Canada a while back, one of the reasons he didn't speak before parliment they said was because he would have gotten booed all the way through his speech. In the states, when someone is speaking, you're supposed to be quiet I believe.

its the same mindless rhetoric i've heard since '01. outside of the economic reforms its still about getting rid of crime and doing the old police job. virtually nothing new execpt the fact that iraq is looking a little brighter to me.

That is very true, and could be said for just about every State of the Union Address in recent history.
