SH I wish I lived in your world, of couse I wouldnt be able to stand living in a looney bin. stupid: What do you find wrong with defending yourself? How could someone protecting thier own life (or someone elses) be a bad thing? If a criminal is going to harm you why would you say the victim doesnt have the right to self defense. -From the article- The bill says a person has "the right to stand his or her ground and meet force with force, including deadly force if he or she reasonably believes it is necessary to do so, to prevent death or great bodily harm to himself or herself or another." |
A few years ago Florida passed a right to carry law. Crime went down. They did have an increase in carjackings of rental cars though. One of the car jackers was interviewed and asked why they were targeting rental cars that were rented by people that were from out of the country. He replied that the people were the only ones he could be sure were not carrying a gun. LOL Sounds to me like the knowledge that a motorist might be carrying a gun was a pretty good deterent.

I just hope people don't abuse it...lie if you brush against someone when walking down the street and then they fucking nail you for it type shit.
|
I can imagine someone trying to pull a prank on another person, and that other person pulls a Mac 10 on the prankster. oOo:

Some of you guys need to get out and see the rest of the world. Join the Navy or something.
|
i though you already had the right to defend yourself with force if your life is threatened. whats new about this bill?
|
[quote:3ac4d]The measure essentially extends a right Floridians already have in their home or car. Under present law, however, people attacked anywhere else are supposed to do what they can to avoid escalating the situation and can use deadly force only after they've tried to retreat.[/quote:3ac4d]
|
i dont see how this is an improvment on some kind of existing problem. how many people were imprisoned for using excessive force when his or her life was endangered? Also, how many people were deterred by this law in saving his/her own life when faced with a life or death situation? this looks like a publicity stunt to me.

More guns is never the fucking solution. I find the best way to defend yourself when held up at gun point is to give your wallet to the person asking for it. Not to pull out your glock and try and go John Wayne on the muggers ass. Think with your mind. Not your balls is the solution. |
carry 2 wallets then give the one with the fake notes and fake expired cards to the gunned mugger and have someone take away your rubbish for free.

That is the pro-crime answer I expected from you.

My idea on the matter is that shouldn't money be put into crime prevention like police, and education and jobs instead of passing legislation that puts more guns on the street, no matter their purpose? I mean, if the risk of having your life put in danger goes down, then you don't really need weapons to protect yourself.
I can understand the self defence thing, but does this not encourage more people to carry weapons? Or at least legitimize that carrying of weapons? One way to fight crime is to shoot it, but there are other more useful ways. And ways that are safer and benifit everyone. |
