Put in the CD that came with it and install the iPod software/drivers.

sometimes when i plug my ipod in (not the gay mini one) it doesnt show up in iTunes, but if i close totally out of itunes and start it up again it usually works. also try disconnecting and connecting the ipod a bunch of times

sometimes mine wont show up in itunes, but if i leave it on for awhile or start messing around with playlist, it will magically appear. othertimes itunes pops up as soon as i plug it in. i dont know, try unstainlling reinstalling everything.
