Salute to a Cancer Combatant.

[quote:99cd9]AUGUSTA, Ga. (AP) -- Lance Armstrong will retire from professional cycling after this summer's Tour de France, ending one of the great careers in all sports.

"Ultimately, athletes have to retire ... the body doesn't just keep going and going," Armstrong said Monday at a news conference.

The 33-year-old Texan will attempt to win his record seventh straight Tour de France in July. Before Armstrong, Miguel Indurain's five straight Tour de France wins were the record.[/quote:99cd9]

He could have also got cancer from using them. Jason Giambi had a non spreading cancer tumor removed from his body

from what I am hearing, he was using rinaplex (a form of steroid) way back before his first TDFrance win. back then it was not detectable.

He had testicular cancer and I believe they removed one of his testicles, so he might still take steroids to keep up his testosterone levels.

In anycase it will be the parting of a legend when he retires.

Oh, man, hes RETIRING? I always watched those things, mainly more to see France than bikers with hiked-up butts, but Lance was amazing. Speed wasnt the key, endurance was...yes. no. yes. no.
