I think he was one of the best general in history, a great man cause he fought for Germany but not for nazism. He seemed to hate the nazi idealogy, that explains why he tried to kill Hitler.
Even Hitler did not wanted to torture him even after the assasination attempt.
This is my opinion anyway, wut bout yours?
