BF2 Bugs & Fixes
I thought this would be appropriate so people can share problems with the game and help one another like little angels.
I currently have nothing much to add here except changing my AGP aperture size in my BIOS from 64 to 128 seems to have really helped. My video card is a Radeon 9800 pro 128mb and now runs great without stutter or lag like its been doing recently. If you do set yours, don't go under 64 or over 256mb, more info is at the 'Tweakguides' site. Another thing to try, as mentioned in the Tweak is to delete all the files in your cache folder [don't delete the folder]. Its in My Documents/bf2/mods/bf2/cache This is the place that stored all your previous/older graphical settings so is fine to delete. Choose your preferred setting then exit the game, delete the cache [will prolly be about 688 files] maybe reboot PC then play game. It'll do the optimize shader thing once but should help. |
Anyone here getting totally shitty pings in the in-game browser now after the patch?
There used to be loads of decent enough servers with fine pings but after the patch all I see is 300, 500, 600 pings that lag like hell in-game. Also for europeans, its frikkin hard to find a good server, I used to check out the Multiplay.co.uk ones but its too hard to find em. Talk about a lazy tiny patch, fuckers, I'm very thankful for this game but the main tool in joining games - the browser - is plain SHIT. fix it asap pls k thx |
In reponse to that last post I re-installed it without the patch and it runs like a dream thank god. Plus the servers it shows are mainly UK ones with good ping which is good for me. Fuck this patch, wait for the one that follows it beer:

The patch is horrible. I'd expect laziness from EA/DICE but not the level pure incompetence that this patch was. 1.0 is much better, however, very few servers run it for some reason. Consider yourself lucky.
