My friends computer just blew up
 

I've posted this on hard forum already but thought i'd ask for some advice off you guys.
Ok, so my friends computer just blew as he was watching TV from it, he said it made a loud bang and loads of smoke came from it, the PC was switched OFF at the time, which is something i've never heard of before. The PC wont now start.

He's asked me to ask could a if a power supply blowing takes any other components with it. He doesnt yet know what caused it and what has blown

He was watching tv on it, but it was off... That makes sense.


Anyway, yes the power supply probably took AT LEAST the motherboard with it when it blew. More likely the entire system. That's what you get for skimping on the PSU.

i meant to say he was watching tv when it blew. But it was turned off. Probably a powersurge caused it. I'll lend him my psu tomorrow - see if anything happens

just check the area around the power connectors for burn marks, if there are none, then there is a good chance that everything survived.

ive had a couple psu, just die when I plugged in my fucking digital camera it killed two mother boards....so the mobo could have died as well.
