[quote:588f1]WASHINGTON (AP) -- House Republicans sought a showdown Friday with Democrats on a proposal by one of their most senior members to force an end to the U.S. deployment of troops in Iraq.[/quote:588f1] |
Why did they remove the 6 month cushion from Murthas original plan?
|
vote yes, withdrawl, no. republicans want to vote, but that doesnt mean they want to bring home troops now.
|
its a bluff to see if the dems really want to put their money where their mouths are. tremendously dumb idea but i stopped trying to understand politics a long time ago.

They want to vote on it, to reject it TONY - not pass it. By forcing an IMMEDIATE vote on this issue - that a Democrat brought up. . .they are putting Dem's in a very tight position. |

After the closed door session regarding Iraqi Intelligence, Dems had to know payback was coming. |
How does it make the Dems look bad? They wanted a 6 month time frame to pull out and the Republicans changed the resolution to an immediate pull out of ALL US Forces in Iraq? So of course the Dems were going to vote 'No' it wasn't the original idea they wanted.
It's funny how the Republicans will sink to lowest level possible, calling a former Marine who served in Vietnam a coward, ironic considering nearly the entire conservative party's structure is full of chicken hawks and people who served as desk jockeys, or who never served at all. Now Bush is calling the Murthas plan 'surrender' and still my favorite is Frists The democrats want a cut and run plan, we want a victory plan!. |
