I f*cking hate group projects
 

For my Energy and the Environment course we had to do a group project which was 20% of our final grade. It's basically about making a website and final paper that talks about transportation and our alternatives to gasoline.

60% of the grade for the project is taken from the website that we create
40% is the paper and mathematical calculations (sustainability, efficiency, or any other calculation)


So it's 3 weeks into the group project and I've sent out 3 e-mails already asking where the fuck are these kids in my group. 3 out of the 4 replied. The professor said she didn't take out the names of the kids that dropped the class ( rolleyes: ). So we're working on it. We divided up the work load pretty easily. The day before it's due, some kid IM's me and goes, "Yo..I'm in your EGEE group. It's due tomorrow. Let me do something."

Seriously, wtf?! I looked him up on facebook and found out he was a collar-popping drunk frat boy. His excuse for not replying to my e-mails was "I had a broken ankle. So I have alot of free time. Let me do somehting." I told him that we already did everything except for the website building. He then goes, "Oh! I'm really good at that. I can do awesome websites. Let me do it." So I was like, ah why not?

Day after everything is due, he sends me the url........

Peer review made up a certain % of the grade in group projects on the degree course I did. If you slacked you got smoked by your 'chums'.

WTF? Lesson learned, I hope. A guy pops in at the eleventh hour and wants to get in on the grade. Fuck him.

The same shit happens at work. I worked on all these scripts for a client's system and do all the testing and a coworker borrows them for his client, makes a few changes and gets kudos for a quick implementation. Meanwhile, my boss wants to know why it is taking me longer. I told him that the fucker used all my work that I took the time to test, which I don't mind, except when he comes out smelling like a rose and my boss questions me. annoy:

I dont think group projects should be allowed after highschool. My freshman year, I had a group project for my Envi class. The day before its due no one has contacted me and I wasnt being bothered contacting them. I go to the class with my own work and the teacher ask for my group to present. Im the only one that stands up and goes to the front. Turns out the other assholes just attached themselves to another group. Than one asian kid stands up and says "oh i think i was in ur group." So he basically has no info and i do the entire presentation. Moral of the story, people are assholes and fuck group projects.

When "group projects" come along, I do it all myself. FUCK THE OTHERS: unless they have something wicked to contribute or modify, I don't trust anyone with what will end up being one of the biggest grades of the course. These 11th hour cocksuckers shouldn't be given a chance to ruin anything...

I can't stand em either man...unless I get to pick my own group...Robin and I got stuck with this kid who can't write english well and didn't show up for our presentation...still did well but i hate public speaking meant meant id have to talk more.

We were told to source shit for it and he sent us his part and no sources whatsoever...so we were almost fucked over.

I haven't had to do any group projects at my university yet, just some solo ones. A also agree that fuck those other guys, I hate doing group activities in school with anybody else, because I don't trust anybody to actually do their work. 97% of college students are too busy getting drunk every night of the week so that should clue you in. Hope you still get a good grade Coleman, because that would really piss me off otherwise.

wow dude that really sux for ya... Thats why Ive always prefered doing projects myself, I hate having to depend on other people. That way if I fuck up, I know its my fault. Unless im with people who I know really well, but even then...

Group projects are good....especially when you're the only male....lol

On a serious note, anyone doing a group project must map out an objective. Use other peoples strong points to accomplish the objective. Doing all the work yourself kinda defeats the purpose. If there's a lazy ass amoungst you, have them fetch coffee and polish your shoes as you carry their weight.

hahaha I know what you mean coleman, I got put in a group with some jock..ended up doing all the work for a 1 hour seminar...got a 95 on it so I'm not complaining..
