west virginia coal mine explosion(jesus renigs on a miricle)
http://www.cnn.com/2006/US/01/04/mineex ... index.html
"At about 8 p.m. Tuesday, coal company officials announced that one miner's body had been found near the area where the explosion occurred. However, there was hope for the remaining 12 miners because their track-mounted car was found undamaged deeper in the mine. Then, a seeming miracle: Shortly before midnight, word rushed up the hollow that 12 miners had been found alive. Family and friends clapped in the early morning chill as a single ambulance drove away, presumably with one of the miners safely in the back. "It just shows you enough prayers went out," Bula Smith, 27, said as she clutched her 7-month-old daughter, Cassey, close to her. "It's a miracle." The crowd gathered outside the church burst into a chorus of "How Great Thou Art" as family and friends threw themselves into each other's arms. Their euphoria was short-lived. When the townspeople learned that all but one of the miners were dead, they reacted with anger at International Coal and the news media for the miscommunication." that has to suck, rip for the dead, People will probably sue the news now though for saying they were alive. annoy: |
Horrible news man, thats so fucked. RIP

this topic has been all over the morning AM talk show I listen to on the drive to work. it has to be devestating to the people related to the coal miners. i guess if they get a slick enough lawyer they could establish a POSSIBLE case of mental issues due to the erroneous reporting....

RIP

It wasn't the reporters from what I heard, they only reported what the mining company told them. APparently the company said they found the coal car undamaged then somehow that got changed to 12 people alive by the time it reached the surface and then the company only corrected it later, even after they knew that people thought the wrong thing.

The whole thing is tragic...especially after hearing there were survivors. This kinda reminded me of the Kursk situation.
RIP to those miners. |

I have to give credit to our governor he had tickets to the Sugar Bowl only to leave a half an hour before the game started to go to the mine site. RIP to the miners. The lone survivor was brought to Ruby Memorial Hospital up here an Morgantown.
