Got screw on Ebay !!!!

Fixed Than you rock:

Usually the copy will work with any pc, unles its a rebadged recovery disc that searches for specific files on the hard drive to ensure its the same pc.

Webb 01-12-2006 08:42 PM

This one looks pretty new,I can't even leave a negative feedback, because the guy got suspended.

Don't i need the key to install the disc ? Or Windows Pro is different ?

geRV 01-12-2006 08:43 PM

I think you still need a cd key, though saying that my cousin has xp-home on a dell, whe i formatted for him it didn't ask for the cd key. Not hard to get the keys but unless theyre legit you have to find "other" ways of getting the windows update files.

Your number should be fine, unless its already been used. In that case you are totally screwed

what did the auction say. because the package says right up on the top left. FOR DISTRIBUTION WITH A "prob new pc dell pc. compaq pc etc"

screw windows, get SuSE Linux 10.0, or Unbuntu.

Webb 01-12-2006 09:27 PM

If that is already in use in another PC,I won't be able install on my PC ? I tought the Pro version was able to install in multiple PC's.
I guess i was wrong.

mR.cLeAn 01-12-2006 09:36 PM

no man thats how they screw you, back in the day when I updated pcs like every 3 months I went through the same problem. I couldn't use the software I bough, cause it was installed in another PC, I try to get microsoft to reason with me, cause I was upgrading pcs because the other were obsolete or damaged ... and all i got was tough shit. I think that that is pretty riddiculous, is like buying a cd but it can only be played in one cd player.

But the retail box out of fucking best buy for christ sakes, save yourself the trouble.

I had to use my CD key 3 times and it wouldnt work durning my previous reformat, i just called them and thye game me a ID number.

i have a copy of xp that works only with the pc i bought (alienware. go ahead make fun, i was an idiot at the time but ive learned the error of my ways). ive replaced every single component inside the computer over the years except the master hard drive which ahs been reformatted countless times. how come the cd still works?

I have an alienware computer, why is that anything to be ashamed of? It's overpriced sure, I could have built my own for much cheaper, but I rather like the fact mine is 3 years old and I haven't changed a single component and it still runs beautifully after only 1 reformat.

You just call microsoft and say "I had some hardware problems and i've had to to format a few times"... they say "is this software currently installed on any other pc's?"... to which you say "no"... new code.

I've had to do it twice now for legit reason, should work for illigal purposes to.

This might help explain things: http://aumha.org/win5/a/wpa.php

[quote:7af9a]
WPA asks for ‘votes’ from each of these ten categories: ‘Is the same device still around, or has there never been one?’ Seven Yes votes means all is well — and a NIC, present originally and not changed, counts for three yes votes! Minor cards, like sound cards, don’t come into the mix at all. If you keep the motherboard, with the same amount of RAM and processor, and an always present cheap NIC (available for $10 or less), you can change everything else as much as you like.

If you change the device in any category, you have lost that Yes vote — but will not lose it any more thereafter if you make changes in that category again. So, for example, you can install a new video display card every month for as long as you like.[/quote:7af9a]
