My First Job...

I got interviewed today for a level design position for a local company. It doesnt pay well ($25 per map), but I could care less. I will be mapping for the game Dark Summer. http://www.absynthinteractive.com/darks ... /main7.htm It is a very unique project that I am very proud to be working on. Kind of odd for a first job considering I will be doing what I want to be doing for the rest of my life. The graphics, and pay suck but what do you expect from your first job.

To make this thread worth while, what was your first job, and how old were you when you had it?

I worked construction, mainly painting and putting up drywall.

how long does it take ot make a map? do the math and if you are working for less than minimum wage leave the job.
My first job was as a dishwasher. I was 14 or 15(highschool freshman) and I held that job for nearly two years. And right now I wish I had a job so bad I would yet again wash dishes.

I am not leaving this job. I am doing it for experience in the industry. Over the short run, it is crap. But later on in life when I am being interviewed for a larger developer, previous experience in the industry is what will set me out from the others.

I work at a jewelery store now as my first job. I mostly do cleaning and run errands but i do sell jewelery and get massive discounts ( for presents, not a big fan of the earrings myself, or of $5000 watches either)...pretty nice first job.....the other day, i sent out a package of a watch that was purchased for $75,000. It boggles who can have that much money to waste on something so small. It was all silver, or white gold, or platinum, and was fully encrusted in diamonds (every centimeter) even on the inside of the band and under the glass next to the watch mechanics..... stupid: oOo:

Scorched Earth 02-03-2006 09:40 PM

yea i have to work 9-6 every saturday. damn retail.
