Metallica - Rick Rubin To Produce Next Album
posted on 02-16-2006 @ 4:16 PM

METALLICA announced today that Rick Rubin, who produced SLAYER's 1986 thrash-classic 'Reign In Blood' as well as albums by SYSTEM OF A DOWN, SLIPKNOT and NEIL DIAMOND, will produce the band's upcoming album. Here's what the band had to say:
"We just wanted to let our friends know that we have been jamming, writing, just plain messing around and having fun in the studio for the last few weeks.
Oh, and by the way, this up and coming producer guy named Rick something-or other, has been coming by the studio every now and again to listen to some of our new stuff and throw his two/three cents in.
Since this Rick dude is new to all of this, we thought it would be a nice gesture to help break him into the music business by asking him to produce our next record. We're very happy he said yes! In other words, we are psyched to share with you that Rick Rubin is producing the next Metallica album! FUCK YEAH!"
Pictures of the band in the studio can be viewed here.

lol, Neil Diamond doesn't really fit in there...

KTOG 02-16-2006 11:46 PM

True bands don't need producers.

c312 02-16-2006 11:53 PM

I love you Ktog... but this is untrue.

Thank jeebus! I fucking hate Bob Rock.

Let's hope they pick up the speed. St. Anger was a step in the right direction, in my opinion. I know a lot of you fags hate it, but you gotta admit it was the heaviest record they'd made since Justice.

The article fails to mention that Rick Rubin was one of the co-founders of Def Jam, one of the most influential rap labels to ever exist.

Instead they mention he has worked with Neil Diamond, go figure, Neil is great...

Rick Rubin is pimp.

Metallica should just retire though.

Neil diamond > Metallica.

FUCK YEAH!!

I don't know if this will be enough to erase from my memory the god awful shitty mess that was post Black Album Metallica, but at least it's a step in the right direction.

PS Master of Puppets pwns j00.
