iTunes problem
All my mp3's from my computer were deleted (but I had all backups on CD so it wasn't like they were gone forever). However, after putting the mp3's back in the computer and into iTunes, it seemed that none of the tags were there. The iTunes only kept the filenames of the songs, but the artist/title/album/genre/year/etc. were all gone. I could easily manually put in the filenames, but with over thousands of songs, it will probably kill me before I finish.
Does anyone know of a way that iTunes (or Winamp) can recognize the file based on the name and put in the tags automatically? All my files are labeled as Artist-SongName.mp3, so could iTunes just make it so all the tags are filled using this information. Or am I screwed? |
WMP 10 does it automatically the best it can, try it out.

I just tried it, but the tags aren't automatically filling in. I went to tools, options, libary, and clicked automatically retrieve information from internet. After clicking apply and okay, nothing happened. Was I supposed to do more? The windows help doesn't really explain. |
yeah, it should ask you for the artist, you put it in, then submit it, then it will show you their albums and you pick one.

aight, I figured it out, thanks, +1 to both.
now i got another problem. Does the artwork from WMP 10 go to iTunes as well? When i view artwork on WMP, something shows. But nothing happens when i do the same in iTunes. Also, does iTunes have a refresh button for the library? |
Hold my plums.
