Regardless of if it's a good idea or not, there has been no public debate about it whatsoever and the media doesn't cover it. Actually, the only guy i've ever heard talk about it in the media is Lou Dobbs.

This will affect every one of us living in North America. I don't know about you, but i'd rather keep my own country and with that soverignty. I'm sure most Americans feel that way. Americans don't want a cacus of Canadians and Mexicans telling the US what to do, and vice versa, but that's where were headed, much like the EU. There are already a lot of things that limit National Soverignty. It is very difficult for a country to make decisions on it's own without having influence from other countries and the UN, and IMO, this will just make that even more difficult.

There is a lot out there on the North American Union and will most likley officially com into being in 2007.

In addition to other things, the development of a NAFTA super highway has commenced. It will be an actual highway, apparently 4 football fields wide that goes from Mexico to Canada that will allow vehicles and people to travel from one end to the other bassically at will and thus in theory erasing borders of the three countries. That's the fear anyway.

On a similar topic, I think Im going ot write my term paper about a world union and how it can benifit the world. ITs more of a fictional piece but if you have any ideas for it negative or positive it helps me.
