Israel rejected the plan outright when it was first proposed.

But Mr Olmert said on Thursday Israel was ready to make "big and painful" concessions to advance the peace process.

2002 Suggested Deal By Arab Governments
  • Calls for "full Israeli withdrawal from all the Arab territories occupied since June 1967"
Calls for Israel's "acceptance of an independent Palestinian State, with East Jerusalem as its capital"
All Arab states would establish "normal relations... with Israel" and "consider the Arab-Israeli conflict ended"
Calls for a "just solution to the Palestinian refugee problem"

I hope both sides can agree on something...

On a side note, Olmert's brother who holds a high position in the Israeli gov't spoke at my school this year.

I know. If both sides were actually committed to achieving something then it would happen. They just won't take part in the basics of negotiation -- trying to understand the other party's motives and interests and realizing the interdependence of both parties and the necessity to make reciprocal concessions in order to better the current situation.
