She must be on rich lady! I have a 2001 ford f 150 automatic 4 wheel drive

Speaking of transmissions, my transmission and water pump on my van went out a couple of week ago, (it was an automatic). $2,500 to get them replaced, lucky for me it was still under warranty, cost me $100.

Dont listen to all the nay-sayers Old Guy. Theres nothing wrong with standards. Been driving em off and on for like 18 yrs :)

they're less likely to fail, but their hell in traffick :)
also cant smoke, drink coffe and eat a burger while your shifting (well, I can but Im good) but thats minor and you learn to adjust.

Overall I prefer em to auto's.

Now, learning how to master the beast just takes practice. You learn to let the clutch slip a little AS you're giving gas at the same time.

Try just taking off. Put it in neautral, push the clutch in. Now idle up the gas a little and try easing up on the clutch gently. the car will tell you if your doing it wrong. As you let up on the clutch give it more gas untill your off the clutch completely and your on your merry way :)

Just takes practice man. I know from experience excatly how much pressure to give both pedals for a smooth take off. Once your moving you just push the clutch in a little and shift.

Ever ride a motorcycle? Same principal.

Just backing out/in a driveway helps. I was 14 when I learned and I had it down in less than a week of backing in/out my driveway.

Just remember what my pappy allways said..."IT will tell YOU when you're doing it wrong." Listen to the motor. To high and your burning the clutch...too low and your gonna stall.

Hope that helps.

Oh...and remember one important detail.....

What you want to do is find the steepest hill around. Pull all the way to just about the top but you should still be on the slope side. Now come to a complete stop and wait for someone to pull up behind you.... Sorry could not resist.

I would follow Jaspers rules.

I Had a 87 Ford Turbo couple 5 speed. Lost my licence for 3 months. For passing an unmarked state trooper doing 124MPH, Hell I was only in 4th gear!!. He was in the center lane when I passed him on the left. I immediately pulled over and had to wait at least 5-6 minutes. For him to catch up. He was cool but pissed. I was 18 at the time.
This was the last time I ever received a speeding ticket. I'm all grown up now and have to pay for my own insurance.

To all the younger members. Remember guys drive safely and don't be a fool like I was. I was lucky many are not.
