i have that problem too. the game freezes, the sound stutters, then no sound. at least it doesn't happen often for me. i read somewhere it's a problem with GeForce cards. i have a GeForce as well....

do you use the Creative Launcher thing at the top of the screen? if so, goto AudioHQ, then Speaker. click on Advanced, and you'll see AC-3 decode. make sure it's off (white). it might work for you....
