After working at EB for getting close to a year now, it's pretty obvious to me which console systems sell the best. Xbox and PS2. Both the Xbox and PS2 are fantastic consoles with both great games, good sides and bad sides.
The Xbox, graphically and power wise, is a much better performer than the other consoles, they barely touch it. Xbox has awesome DVD playback, a good range of titles (although it is still small) and Microsoft are really pushing it to succeed. Xbox Reps from Microsoft come around regularly, always cheerful and always great to talk too. The only problems I can see are most the games arent using the Xbox's true potential (and come out few and far between), therefore the games always look lacking in the graphics department. Halo, Halo 2, Splinter Cell, Unreal Championship and a few other titles do and will take advantage of it's power. I just wish more would.
The PS2 has a HUGE range of games and larger fanbase, obviously only because it's been out for longer. But thats about it. Poor DVD playback, the graphics, although still good, are starting to show their age compared to the other consoles. I have only once in all my time working there seen 1 Sony Rep actually come into the store and talk to us, even when we were talking it was all business, no friendly relaxed chat. Just rush rush rush. That put me off. The woman was hot, nice sexy Asian woman, but that still didnt make up for it. Anyway, on the whole, PS2 is good, but definately aging.
The GameCube. Well, I took one home to try out, and I thoroughly enjoyed Rogue Leader, absolutely awesome game, sadly, one of the very few on the GC that really did it for me. There are some better titles available now,, but out of the 3 consoles available, the GC has the most pathetic range, it's so obvious. PS2 covers roughly 1/3 of one of the walls, Xbox cover just under that, and GC hold an area on the backwall about 1.5 metres wide, about 2 high, and most of that room is filled up with overstock because we wouldnt have enough titles to cover the area if we packed them up and had only a few on display. Good little machine I've come to respect, but the lack of games really destroy it's potential.
Keep in my mind I have both an Xbox and PS2, so I'm not fan boy of any sort, if I had the money I would spend up and get a GC with some of it's better games, but that wont happen any time soon. In order from best to worst (in my opinion) it goes Xbox, PS2, GC.
Oh, by the way, nice pics Gerard biggrin: I love that Star Destroyer, very sexy wink:
