Sorry for the late reply guys. I was at the SU vs. Georgetown game. (SU kicked their asses.) For transparency, just use the slider in the layer sidebar or in layer style > blending options and use the slider there.

That sig that you said was too busy was only 2 layers on the right side, with the uniform and the swastika. That's usually as far as I go with conflicting images like that.
