[quote="{TRC}ZenMaster":c39d3]Gentlemen ,
As with all of us this is but my viewpoint , and I understand this may not be agreeable to others.....
The current conflict in Iraq is a nessecary one. And there will be more to follow you can be sure. Lybia and Syria are both top contenders for Terorist hideouts. But we must defeat the treat in any way we can. Americans are hated in 75% of the world because we have things and do things that other people cannot.
Weapons of Mass Destruction: saddam had and has hidden at least enough of these to be a serious treat to the rest of the world. How do I know you may ask? Because Reagan gave them to him. In an effort to create an allie in the middle East during the cold war , Reagan saw it fit to arm saddam with WMD. We also outfitted and trained the Taliban in Afganistan to help them revolt from Russia.
These two attacks were justified and are nessecary to world peace.
This is not Vietnam. Vietnam was faught because after WWII The french claimed half of that country. French solgiars promoting Democracy were killed by Communist solgiars from the north. In an attempt to keep Communism out Nixon sent troops. Same story in Korea.
This current fight has nothing to do with with government types. This is a fight to eliminate Terorists in all forms. This is a fight because of Sept.11th.
Some say Bush is on a rampage and is doing what his father did not. I disagree. This is exactly what I would do if I was in charge when someone attacked my country. I would light up there world.
Imagine if Perot or Forbes or worse the idiot that lost to Bush ( I purposly forgot his name) had been in the white house when the attacks came.
For one Im glad we have a president that is willing to put his contry before his re election campain.
And yes I am a US Army Vet.[/quote:c39d3]
judging from your version of 'Nam, you don't know what the fuck your blabbering about.
There was a post-WWII revolution and teh Vietnamese kicked the French COLONIAL OCCUPIERS out. Vietnam was divided into two zones to be rebuilt and there was supposed to be a subsequent election, but like in Korea the North attacked and there was no election. Eisenhower was the first to send advisors to Nam, Kennedy sent more advisors and military equipment. Johnson got us involved in the war with actual combat troops. Nixon PULLED THE US OUT OF NAM, finally ending our involvement in the war.
