I live in Myrtle Beach, actually rougher than you might imagine. We have the highest per capita violent crime rate in the country. Anyway, I only actually carry during the three bike weeks. Harley week usually isn't that bad, but Atlantic Beach Bike Fest (Black Biker Week) gets VERY rough down here. Police get shot, stores get openly vandalized and robbed. They try to get the National Guard here every year, but every time it's about to be approved the NAACP has a fucking conniption fit and screams about racial profiling, meanwhile at least two people are murdered every year.
I started carrying my Glock after an attempted car-jacking during Black Bike week. I would have lost my car if I hadn't been on my way to the firing range with my dad's old .357 magnum.

After reviweing my post I realized that I probably shouldn't have juded your situation the way I did. I've never been to your part of the country before so I don't know what its like. I have nothing against Americans.
