That usually happens when you have a
ping time-out. Your software has noticed this and attempts to reconnect to the server for you. That is why it disconnects.
I take it you're on 56k? If so, then you'll experience this problem more than your usual IRC user.
I'm on 1.5mb 385k ADSL, I usually have a ping time-out at least once per session.
We suffer from ping time-out because our pings suck compared to the server, which is located in the US (AFAIK).
Your MSN promblem sounds fucked. Download the software again and re-install it.
It could also be your screen saver. My pc would hang severely when the screen saver activated. Fixed that by setting it to only show a blank screen when activated. Also check the power saving settings, sometimes these settings can screw you around a little.
