I usually notice a difference in gradient type things. Like a shadow, where it fades out, you can kind of tell behind the font, but like you said though, it isn't really noticeable.

Edit: and oh yeah, I'd like to see it as a jpg, I can't believe you'd save a wallpaper as a gif ed: . Unless I'm a jackass, I thought gifs could only hold 256 different colors.
