you can go coast to coast with paying a dime if you do it right. There are some toll roads (Chicago comes to mind) and some turnpikes (Ohio, but no Wolverine would be caught daed there) but most interstate highways are free to travel. I have heard that on some turnpikes they calculate your speed from one point to another and can write you a speeding ticket if you arrive too fast.
Just thought of something else. Some bridges have fees like "Big Mac" between Michigans upper and lower peninsilas
