Hi Colonel,
Great post, Stuff like this is always interesting to read.
I'll add a coment or two... that hopefully will not cause the rest of the AA maniacs to start another stupid debate that ends with lots of stfu's.
I personally have never been able to follow the "This war is just like ___ war" stuff. Just don't buy it. All wars have different reasons and variables and cannot be associated with each other. Even WWI & WWII have huge differences though the names would suggest otherwise.
I'm 27, and have a college edjumication... I feel I understand a bit of history as most guys my age do. And I certainly understand the "propagada war" that is going on right now because of the elections. That being said...
We invaded Europe in '44, but had declared war two years earlier against Japan (

The Korean and Vietnam wars, I'm sure we can both agree were attempts to eliminate the "evil" communism world order. But none the less wars faught in defence rather than aggression.

The Kosovo war I remember, this was a UN / NATO attempt to end a civil war in croatia. Clinton agreed to assist and offered aid.

As far as Osama bin Laden goes, this guy was a trained US allie. We helped train the taliban so that they could rebel from the "evil" russians. Beyond that I have no personal knowledge of his threat level prior to 9/11.
This war in Iraq, just like many before it is based on political reasoning more than personal threat. There are and have been greater threats and genocide in the world since and before the invasion of Iraq. The Sudan, the Haitian problem, Korea, ect.
And the thing that bothers me the most... the single most troubling event is the fact that as a world leader, a country of freedom
we invaded another country and removed its leader without UN / NATO consent.
I understand that Europeans remeber something similar happening in 1939, and I have no doubt that we are viewed in many parts of the world as nazis because of it.
