anywho. try this and see if you get rid of the chop. select the outer most shape ( circle in this case ) and switch to the channels palette. do select contract by 1 pixel ( or if 1 isnt enough .. you know ) then select feather by half of what you contracted... then fill the selection ( alpa channel ) with white.

from the cs sprays thing. make a new layer behind your image and fill it with a mid grey ( r:128, g:128, b:128 ). then save as gif with no matte.
