OCZ is one the top RAM brands. In fact they are quickly moving their way up to #1. Corsair, OCZ, and Mushkin are the best. Followed by G-skill and Patriot. Geil and Kingston are at the very bottom.

That RAM I linked it some of the best stuff out there. BH-5 chips that are already clocked at 250mhz at 2-2-2-8 timings.

I don't know why he wouldn't overclock. Change 2 things in BIOS and your done. Maybe he just wasn't up-to-date on current tech and wanted to know what the best was.



As for the video cards, you can substitute anything you want in there. I'd take dual 6800GTs over a X850XT anyday.
