I love how some decided to prove thier point with some lyrics.... dorks.

For those who said ROCK- "Rock & Roll" in its earliest stages was a faster paced pop music that came from the most popular tunes of the day, styles like country, folk, & R&B. Basically the Oldies station. Elvis is given the title of the king of Rock & Roll because of the huge strides he made in public ACCEPTANCE. You could now sound different than you may look, and musicians now had the freedom to move, act, and sing in suggestive ways.
~ If you like Death Metal, you can thank guys like Elvis.

For those who said RAP- "Rap" music in its earliest stages was a vocal and musical expansion of classic jazz & R&B. In has a huge push to popularity from the Disco era, and if Im not mistaken had its first hit in the late 70's. It also has a huge influence from Pop music from the time, and the tradition continues today.
~ If you like Hip Hop, you can thank guys like Micheal Jackson.

My point to all of this is simply that those who choose a single side of a musical spectrum are foolish to assume that they are being entertained by a sound/style/music that is unique or seperate from other forms of music.

I , like anyone else have my preferences based on what I find most appealing, but if you really want to experiance a musical delight... check out early music, and old Jazz, Folk, R&B, & Country. Things like Elvis, Hank Williams, Nina Simone, & James Brown.
